Full Terms & Conditions
The using of Manx Time to attend to a clock repair is subject to your acceptance of, and compliance with, the following terms and Conditions.
Any person who brings an item for repair to Manx Time is deemed to be the legal owner, or authorised agent of the legal owner of the clock, and releases Manx Time, from all and any liability for said clock as agreed by the terms herein.
Advance payment is not required on any repair, payment is always due upon collection of the item or upon delivery of the item to the client’s address.
Manx Time reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time.
Time for Completion of Work
I do not make any guarantees about the time taken to complete a repair. The time until completion will be subject to my availability and the complexity of the repair. Whilst I will not make guarantees, I will endeavour to complete the repair in a reasonable timeframe.
Manx Time will not be held responsible for any unforeseen delays whether personally or delays whilst awaiting the services of subcontracted experts in specialist fields.
If a customer demands an early return after work has commenced, Manx Time will endeavour to repair/reassemble the clock within the given timeframe but will not be able to guarantee that the clock will function or run, even if it was running beforehand. If the customer demands an early return with less than 48 hours’ notice, Manx Time cannot guarantee that the clock can be reassembled before return.
Photography
Manx Time may use photographs and/or videos of the restoration of an item and these may appear on Manx Time’s website and/or social media for the purpose of showing services available to other prospective clients. Manx Time may also post photos taken during repair to clock forums for the purposes of age estimates, second opinions and education.
Guarantee
We offer a 12-month guarantee on all full services and repairs. Part repairs and minor works are excluded from said guarantee however a 'pro rata guarantee may be given in certain circumstances and this is at the discretion of Manx Time.
Guarantee starts from date of delivery back to the owner/owners agents care and covers parts and labour with the exceptions as stated and listed below.
The guarantee is not transferable to a third party and is only applicable to the original transaction undertaken.
The following items are excluded from the guarantee given:
The cost of repair and/or replacement to mainsprings, broken wheels and/or teeth caused by mainspring breakage after service/repair
Repair or replacement of weight-driven clock cables, gut or chains.
Repair or replacement of any broken hands.
Replacement of broken glass of any sort.
Accidental damage or damage caused by misuse or poor handling of the clock, unreasonable and excessive winding force.
Any failure due to metal fatigue of old parts and any damage caused thereby
Initial setting-up issues including a suitable place for the clock, getting the clock into beat so it continues to tick, winding the clock, and any other setting-up issues
Evidence of tampering with work undertaken by Manx Time by any third party either in the trade or not unless we have designated that person to so do will invalidate the guarantee.
Disclaimer
While every reasonable effort is made to ensure that all work is carried out with great care and skill, Manx Time cannot accept liability for any damage to the movement, case, glass or of a personal nature which can be attributed to metal fatigue or mechanical breakdown of any part due to age or manufacture, the use of keys of incorrect size, unreasonable winding force, unskilled or unsuitable installation and operation, the attentions of any other person (whether connected with the trade or not), damage caused by accident, negligence, misuse, abuse, improper operation or failure to follow instructions, damage or malfunction following repair, attempted repair or adjustment by the customer or by any other person, unless I have designated that person to do part of the work, excess wear or any kind of failure due to inherent design flaw or material defect that is well-known to clock-repair practitioners.
Finally please understand that the final regulation of the clock to ascertain accurate timekeeping properties is the responsibility of the owner, this is because of temperature variables and is outside of the control of Manx Time. All clocks are regulated in the workshop however they will almost certainly need slight adjustment following the initial setup. With patience, it is possible to get most clocks accurate to within a minute a week.
